www.bp.com A complete revamp of an existing site, launched March 2001.

  • Worked with the established User Interface team developing Dreamweaver prototypes which were simultaneously worked on by Content Strategists, and passed to Visual Designers for visual treatment
  • Used Visual Source Safe to store and distribute documents
  • Created and documented UI specs for sections of the site, annotating Dreamweaver prototype screen shots with detailed descriptions of user actions and results, for subsequent development by technologists
  • Attended meetings of Customer Experience architects, Content Strategists, Visual Designers, and Front End Technologists to obtain sign-off from client.
  • Worked with technical team to create and document the user manual for the Administration Area of the site, combining annotated diagrams and instructions

bp.com Style Guide This was a key first deliverable for the client designed to enable the many associated businesses of the company to align their look and feel with the parent company for V.1 launched December 2000

  • Within a small team worked on all parts of its development, actively participating in the formative brainstorming stages, and in the creation of the content categories
  • Surveyed user acceptance of terms and headings
  • Edited content from previous digital and print versions, expanding it in consultation with Content Strategist and Production Manager, organising it within a coherent site map created by the Information Architect
  • Updated sitemap as and when necessary
  • Designed navigation and interface of each section creating complete annotated Visio diagrams for discussion and for Front End Technologist
  • Attended progress meetings with client
  • Assisted with interpretation of information architecture of main site being developed simultaneously, and worked with Visual Designer to devise diagrams to explain site structure and navigation protocols for future developments and expansion
  • Assisted Visual Designer in creating original diagram GIFs in Photoshop
  • Liased with Front End Technologist, testing and checking site

www.wellbeing.com Boots/Granada TV affiliated web-site launched March 2001.

  • Accompanied Customer Experience Strategist to meetings with external Visual Designers and Clients. Researched health and beauty presentation in books and websites
  • Travelled to client site and developed interface design in conjunction with client representatives
  • Attended meetings with Content Providers and converted book content into interface structure in discussion with client and content strategists
  • Worked closely with Information Architect to create site structure of Health and Beauty section
  • Discussed visual treatment of interface with Visual Designers
  • Provided documents and compiled information to assist database designers

Was an active member of the Information Architecture/User Interface neighbourhood within Scient, and also London representative of Art@Work. Led colleague training workshops for Visio and attended Flash workshop.
